Ice-Skating is perfect for friends and family who wants to grow closer to each other and enjoy themselves at the same time. When starting out, Ice-Skating together helps build confidence and trust in one another. Once you are a more proficient skater, you can help guide your friends who are still starting out, lending them your support and at the same time, receiving their trust.

Before the mall went under reconstruction, Kallang Leisure Park was famous for its ice skating ring. Singapore has few ice skating rings. For the people staying at the West, they go to JCube. For the people staying at the East, they come to Kallang Leisure Park. Now, Kallang Leisure Park still has its ice skating ring but now, with even more! For those that do not want to ice skate, you can go to the bowling alley beside it. Garena Stadium

Garena Stadium is not your typical LAN shop. It revolutionizes what one perceives as a LAN shop. Apart from the regular stuff you get at a LAN shop, Garena Stadium also has food, merchandise and even large screens for viewing competitive games!

Most importantly, national players such as SGS.Chawy and SGS.Harleluyar come here to compete with each other and on a regional scale in tournaments such as the Garena Premier League. If you were wondering why their names look weird, it is because that these are their in-game names (IGNs). This consists of the team they play for, like SGS and KLH, followed by a name of their choice, which they build their reputation upon.

There are also huge high definition screens allow many to spectate ongoing games live allowing for events every weekend where these national players come to Garena Stadium to play casual games and have meet and greet sessions with their fans.

If you are interested in e-sports after reading this, do check out Singapore's very own Garena Premier League at http://gpl.garena.com and while you're at it, why not 'jio' your friends along?

ps. League of Legends is now an official Olympic sport! Read up on it here: http://www.forbes.com/sites/johngaudiosi/2012/08/15/league-of-legends-and-starcraft-ii-could-become-olympic-sports-as-early-as-2020-summer-games/

I Love Taimei !

Hey guys, feeling hungry when you are shopping at bugis street? Looking for a quick snack to munch on while walking around the streets? There is a small food store called “I love taimei” located near the end of the street. To me, it is the closest to a genuine street food stores in Taiwan. It sells snacks such as bubble and fruit tea and has quite a large selection of food which they will fry in batter before it is served.

It also has really nice bubble tea and passion fruit tea which is a perfect drink to cool yourself when walking in the cramp streets in bugis.

The two food which really reminded me of the food in Taiwan is the fried sweet potato and chicken cubes. The sweet potato was crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy in the inside. It had a nice sweet flavor and a perfect balance with its seasoning. The chicken cubes were really tender with basil added inside to enhance its flavor. I recommend that you to check out this store if you want a taste of Taiwan’s “small eats”.

Man of Steel

Hey guys! Today I am going to talk about a movie closer to our hearts – Hopeman. Yes, I will be talking about Superman, also known as Man of Steel.

Synopsis:
A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind. -- (C) Warner Bros
Unlike the previous Superman movie “Superman returns”, Man of Steel talks about how Superman came about – the destruction of Krypton, Clark’s childhood issues, Clark meeting his deceased father and how he got his superman suit (haha).

Well, instead of Superman fighting Lex Luthor, the villain of this movie is General Zod, the military general of Krypton. One thing that surprised me was Superman’s costume – the lack of underwear. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the fact that Superman has a good sense of fashion now that he got rid of that distracting red underwear!

*No red underwear!

If you like fighting scenes, this is the movie to watch. You get long fights of Superman and other Kryptonians punching and throwing each other into buildings.

Overall, if you want a trip down memory lane, ‘jio’ some of your friends to watch this movie!

The Legend of Korra

Nostalgic Movie? How about a nostalgic animated series, The Legend of Korra. For those who had watched Avatar: the last air bender/ the legend of Aang (depending on which country you are in) you would know how great the animated show was. It went so popular that many people wanted it to carry on and so The Legend of Korra Book 1 was made, air and gone.
Now.....(wait for it....) Book 2 is finally going to be released in September on Nickolodeon! If you remember previously, Book 1 was on Air. Book 2 is going be Spirits so you guys could expect more spirit world action in Book 2!
I had also fished out something great for you guys......THE TRAILER!!!!! Sit back and enjoy!
Cheers

The Smurfs 2

I have returned, with yet another nostalgic movie, The Smurfs 2.
Source: fanpop.com

For those who have not watched the first movie, The Smurfs is about a village of small blue creatures called Smurfs. These Smurfs live somewhat like in a fairy tale, simple enough for small kids to understand, and yet contains much educational value.

The Smurfs actually started off as a Belgian comic and progressed into a TV show and has its first movie in 2011. Each Smurf has their names similar to their behaviour. And like any other fairy tale, there is a bad guy. In this case, it's a wizard called Gargamel who tries to capture Smurfs.
Source: aceshowbiz.com
The Smurfs 2 revolves around the Smurfs in their adventure to save Smurfette, who has been captured by Gargamel. They also made friends with some humans which promise to keep the secret of their existence, and venture off with their help. Catch the movie in theatres for a fun-filled time with your friends and family!

Catching Fire

I know you guys have been waiting for it. The Hunger Games: Catching fire is going to be aired on 22 November 2013 and maybe a few days later in Singapore. For those who had watch The Hunger Games, you will know that it is a really good movie with a lot of actions. Even though I had only seen the trailer, I believe that a lot is going to happen in the new Catching Fire.
I should not go on too much as I do not want to spoil it for those who does want to watch everything from the start without any spoilers.
For those who want to watch the trailer, it is located below. Hope you will be as excited as me on the new The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. May the Odds be Ever in Your Favour.
Cheers.

Tales From The Dark Part 1

Fancy horror shows? Look no further! The latest movie in town will send a chill down your spine. This is a time to “jio” your friends out to watch “Tales from the dark part 1”. This movie contains many short ghost stories that will send you flying in terror. The first story tells the story of an odd job worker trying to make ends meet by stealing urns and holding them ransom and blackmailing their relatives. However, things does not go as plan and the worker met a ghost later.
www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/tales-dark-1-film-review-585472

There will be three other short stories as well but I will not spoil it for you guys. An information about the movie, it is in mandarin and there will be more parts to the movie since this is part 1.  Horror movies are best watched without knowing what will happen next. So head to the nearest cinema and taste the fear in the atmosphere. Who knows, something may be behind you as you are reading this.

Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim is a highly anticipated movie of giant robots vs giant monsters. When mysterious beings called Kaiju appeared out of the Pacific to wreak havoc, the humans responded with the Jaeger (hunter in German) project – giant robots with a 2 pilot system that uses a neural system to connect the minds of the pilots. I shall not go any further with the plot so as to not spoil the movie for you.

Source: www.hdwallpapers.in

The good:
If you like giant robots fighting giant monsters, then this movie is for you! This movie is packed with awesome CG with near life-like monsters in heated battle with the Jaegers. With plasma canons, punching, slicing and even using a ship as a weapon, the action will definitely not disappoint you. In addition, the ‘physics’ of the movie is well thought out. As the Jaegers are extremely large (as large as the Statue of Liberty), their slow movements gives you the impression of how large they really are. Such minute detail in the movie makes it such a joy to watch!

The bad:
One of the bad points in this movie was the acting. I felt that Mako Mori, played by Rinko Kikuchi did not carry out her role properly. To put it bluntly, her acting was bad. There were also a few logical errors but I will not discuss about it as I do not want to ruin the movie for you.

The verdict:
If you are a fan of the mecha genre and want to watch top-notch CG, this movie is definitely for you. Though it has some bad acting and logic errors, if you can get past that, you will most probably enjoy this movie.
So what are you waiting for? Go out and ‘jio’ your friends to watch this movie!

The Wolverine

Love Marvel movies? Well there is one coming out on the 25th of July. The movie is called “The Wolverine” featuring a popular marvel comic character Wolverine.

This movie starring Hugh Jackman cast as Logan who has the power to heal from any wounds inflicted and adamantium claws that can shred through anything! The story itself is stated in the title. It is about the Wolverine of course! But featured like a “Ronin” story. A Ronin is a samurai without a master. I won’t say more as you have to see this movie yourself! But you can be sure to expect this movie to be filled with action scenes, great story plot and twist throughout the movie!  Here’s a trailer, catch this movie when it first goes on the big screens!
Signing off,
Isaac

Despicable Me 2

Despicable Me 2 is a highly anticipated sequel to the first movie, Despicable Me in 2010. It has also been nominated in the prestigious Golden Trailer Awards.

Source: ashvegas,com

This movie is about a ‘previously’ super villain named Gru. Together with his partner, 3 daughters, Dr Nefario and his lovable minions, Gru goes on an adventure to try catch the evil villain El Macho. In the process, he meets his partner Lucy and falls in love with her during their missions together.

Source: zonters.com
The cheerful yellow little minions get infected with a poison, which transforms them into mindless and invulnerable zombies who eat and destroy anything in their way. Throughout the movie, the minions sing various popular songs such as "YMCA" and "I Swear" in their very own minion language. A subtle detail that went into creating this movie is that when it was screened in different languages, the languages of the minions remained the same and their jokes are pretty much universal.

Both Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 brings out the child in everyone, making it enjoyable for the young and the young at heart.

Will Gru and his gang be able to save the world from these indestructible minions? Watch the movie to find out! And while you're at it, why not 'jio' some of your friends along with you?

Kallang Cage

Hey peeps! Need a place to play football with your friends? I have just the place for you. The Cage is a 24 hour arena that allows you to play football with your friends! As the Cage is sheltered, it does not matter whether it rains or shines as you can play football with your friends in any conditions! In addition, you will always feel cool as the Cage has good ventilation with its huge fan over your head constantly blowing at you. Many people enjoy playing football at the Cage as it provides a conducive environment with its AstroTurf (artificial grass) flooring, vending machines and toilets.

Credits: imzke.blogspot.com

Some people may not like to play at the Cage as they find the small area restrictive for movement. However, for less fit and casual players like myself, I feel that the small playing area allows me to ‘chiong’ more.

Stadium MRT - Credits: http://2009.thecage.com.sg/where

Do note that you have to book for a pitch at approximately $50-60, so ‘jio’ as many of your friends along to split the cost!

Lastly, the Cage is located at 38 Jalan Benaan Kapal (Singapore 399635), near Stadium MRT.

Subway - Healthy Diet

Apart from outdoor activities, a healthy diet is also an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. Many youths nowadays prefer to eat fast food, which is usually known as unhealthy. However, there is a much healthier alternative: Subway. Subway is an international fast food chain offering a variety of healthy food from sandwiches (subs) to wraps and even salads!

My favorite is the Cold Cut Trio Sub, which consists of 3 types of meat, turkey bologna, turkey ham and turkey salami. Subway offers a huge selection of vegetables and sauces for everyone, making it a healthy choice for both the young and the young at heart.

Subway also has sides to complement your meal such as their daily-made cookies, a selection of chips and fruit crisps. Every meal also comes with a healthy drink such as Snapple or Minute Maid Pulpy fruit juices.

All these healthy choices are available at a very reasonable and affordable price. So why not start eating healthy at Subway now?
